Explorers’ Edge Wins Tourism Innovator of the Year Award
(October 29, 2020…Bracebridge, Ontario)…Explorers’ Edge was honoured with the ‘Tourism Innovator of the Year Award’ at the 2020 Ontario Tourism Summit, a 2-day virtual event with over 800 attendees that was hosted by the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO) on October 27th and 28th, 2020.

Of note, On Wednesday, September 30 at 1pm, RTO12 senior staff and Peter Coish, marketing strategist, will present a summary of key insights from this research. Of particular importance are the new domestic segments that have been developed and will be targeted, replacing our previous (and long-standing) primary segment of “Ontario Explorers”.
In July and August, RTO12 undertook a significant regional-centric research study to determine traveler interests and intentions (immediate and longer-term) as a result of Covid-19. This intelligence will guide our work moving forward, and our industry recovery efforts.

Explorers’ Edge Marks the Group of Seven’s 100th Anniversary by Honoring Current Regional Painters
100 artists being featured on the regional tourism organization’s social media
(September 15, 2020…Bracebridge, Ontario) … To mark the 100th anniversary of the formation of the iconic Group of Seven painters, Explorers’ Edge is posting artwork from 100 current painters in the region of Ontario that includes Algonquin Park and Parry Sound.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought travel to a halt. Now with restrictions lifting, the travel industry must tackle the daunting task of rebuilding. There is already plenty of research to show the post-pandemic traveller will be changed in many ways, and the industry will have to adapt. For RTO 12, the big question is how will these changes specifically impact tourism to the region (and its 1,800+ operators). The answer will determine how the region should respond to those impacts.
