Executive Summary: International Marketing & The Need for Conversions

In 2017, RTO12 completed an extensive Product Development Framework Report that included significant Environics research into differentiated Key Tourism Activities (KTAs) that will motivate travellers from four key Designated Marketing Areas (DMAs) in the United States to visit this region. As per the recommendations in the Product Development Framework Report and the organization’s subsequent 5-Year Regional Tourism Strategy, RTO12 now seeks to promote these KTAs to audiences in the DMAs: Boston, Chicago, Washington and New York City.

Specifically, RTO12 seeks a Consultant to conduct social content marketing and lead nurturing programs that align with the organization’s current initiatives in these areas.

For the purposes of this RFP, please consider the total budget to be $100K CDN* when creating your submission.

Executive Summary: International Marketing & The Need for Conversions

One of the KTAs identified as a gap in RTO12 product offering which motivates travel is Indigenous tourism experiences. As per the recommendations in the Product Development Framework Report and the organization’s subsequent 5-Year Regional Tourism Strategy, RTO12 now turns its sights on identifying and growing Indigenous tourism product in this region to attract increased international visitation, but also to act as a catalyst to First Nations stakeholders here to foster economic revenue from such development. RTO12 seeks a consultant to assist with these strategic objectives.

In 2018, RTO12 commenced its 5-year strategy to increase international visitation and spend in the region and launched an always-in-market direct-to-consumer marketing program. Integral to the success of this strategy is ensuring that captivating itineraries feature prominently in content and on the international website (www.thegreatcanadianwilderness.com) and that multi-faceted packages (airfare, shuttle transportation, accommodations, attractions, etc.) from across the entire region suitable to the content editorial and itineraries can be easily purchased and processed by international travellers. The Opportunity:

Starting in June 2018, RTO12 will commence marketing to international audiences by developing content pertaining to our five “Key Tourism Activities” that were identified in the organization’s Product Development Framework:

  • Being Lakeside (swimming, lazing on the dock, bonfires, etc)
  • Hiking
  • Paddling
  • Guided Nature Tours
  • Wildlife Viewing

RTO12 seeks to hire one or more photographers to capture images of these five Key Tourism Activities (showcasing humans interacting) in each of the 5 unique sub-regions: Algonquin Park, Almaguin, Loring-Restoule, Muskoka and Parry Sound. Continue reading

Expression of Interest: Board of Directors Planning Session Facilitator

The Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport established 13 Regional Tourism Organizations (RTOs) in the province to identify and implement regional priorities, in an effort to foster more strategic marketing of Ontario’s tourism regions.  RTO12, also known by its consumer-facing name “Explorers’ Edge,” is a not-for-profit agency that is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The RTO12 geographic area includes Algonquin Park, the Almaguin Highlands, Loring-Restoule, Muskoka and Parry Sound. The mandate for RTO12 is to provide regional leadership and strategic planning, to develop strong marketing and collaborative partnerships, and to contribute to workforce development and skills training.
