Position of Director, Board of Directors Regional Tourism Organization 12 (RTO 12)

The deadline for nominations and applications to fill vacancies on our Board of Directors is 12 p.m. April 15, 2015.

RTO12 is seeking volunteers to sit on the Board of Directors and contribute to the development and supervision of its strategic vision and support the tourism interests of Algonquin Park, Almaguin Highlands, Muskoka and Parry Sound. The Board of Directors invites volunteers who have a commitment to regional tourism efforts, a knowledge of and passion for the tourism industry, and an interest in becoming an active participant in RTO12 matters.

2016 Ontario Budget: Highlights for the Tourism Industry

Toronto, Ont. (Feb. 29, 2016)—Ontario Finance Minister Charles Sousa released the 2016 Ontario Budget on Thursday, Feb. 25. Entitled Jobs for Today and Tomorrow , there are many elements of this year’s Budget that directly and indirectly affect Ontario’s tourism industry.  The following Budget Highlights for tourism have been organized by Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO) and in keeping with TIAO’s messaging themes for the year—Transportation, Trade and Talent.

     (February 16, 2016, Bracebridge, Ontario)….The effort to establish commercial flights into the Muskoka Airport to foster tourism growth and economic development moved forward with the hiring this week of InterVISTAS by project partners RTO12 and the District of Muskoka to help these organizations obtain aviation security screening designation at the airport. After five years in operation, RTO12 has achieved sound foundational success in all of its core initiatives. The time has therefore come for the organization to introduce new projects that are intended to substantially increase the amount of visitation to the region and to foster true destination development, for the benefit of all tourism stakeholders.

Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery

e903ead5-3bbf-4536-a308-953d845c58b9The Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery’s “self-guided mobile tour” is a unique concept in tourism, putting the guide function into the hands of anyone interested in iconic Canadian art (presented in a totally different way), who also has a tablet or phone handy. A microsite that highlights not only the replica paintings and the communities where people will find them, it also highlights additional attractions, accommodations and dining establishments in the vicinity of each painting.

The Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery Self-Guided Mobile Tour is the first in a series of self-guided mobile tours the RTO will be developing.

It is hoped that this series of self-guided mobile tours, which tourism operators can link to in their own marketing materials to attract visitors, will distinguish RTO12 in the marketplace.
